Breathe

Wreathed and riddled

Unlike a knife,

never straight to the point

just puzzled,

unravelling like a rope

too high on coke

imagination running away

like someone smoking dope.

Depression, a monster

of chemical erections, reactions

stressed, deadbeat living like a

lifeless soul, deep hole,

something, someone

taking control, of my mind

leave me alone its dark and its cold

get me out of here

someone pull me out

I just need space

I just need time

I just need space to breathe

This is me

Since I was born my dad was on poison

aged 16 we cremated my mother, my angel,

I never had a real childhood to look back to

I don’t even have memories of happy families to rise to.

I’m still being rescued from myself

busting the ghosts from my past,

try smashed windows, violence and the fight for survival,

I guess you wouldn’t know, would you?

Like a blind person you fail to see me

Yet somehow, they still manage to feel me,

Like a deaf person you fail to hear me

yet somehow, they still listen and cry for me.

I’m not crying out for help, because I don’t need it

I’d hoped you’d understand me and mean it,

It’s so easy for you to judge

because you never understood me,

what did you expect from someone

with a complicated life, and a messed up story?

There are angels and demons in all of us

There’s black and white, even in smoke and dust

If you can’t stay loyal, then you’ve broken my trust

I guess you were never a true friend, because you gave up on us.

These are not just words, this is me, bleeding, from the bottom of my heart.

Better Days

If we keep looking in the past
do we ever really live for now?
If we don’t have money
does life become a series of hopeless shows?
Are we all chasing the dream
that will end unknowingly?
Will we ever find the path,
to real love, laughter and harmony?

Hold my hand and lead the way
to a future, where the light shines
Dream with me, come take me... away
to someday, where angels fly
come dream with me,
dream with me for... better days

Do we all have a story to tell,
where chapters are still unwritten?
Do others open old wounds,
to satisfy their envy and keep us, from forgetting?
If we run from what’s within,
where do we really run to?
If the truth lies somewhere in-between,
which way do I turn to stop feeling empty?

Hold my hand and lead the way
to a future, where the light shines
Dream with me, come take me... away
to someday, where angels fly
come dream with me,

close your eyes and imagine,
just you and me
hoping for a better love...hoping for better days...
just hoping for better days
where there is only you and me...

A little snippet to give you a feel:

Innocent people dropping like rows of dominoes
as if they were clowns in a circus show,
a third of the world has nothing to eat
and we call ourselves decent human beings?

...you'll have to buy the book to read the rest :-)

Poem 'Beautiful' dedicated to my mother 10 years on.

Beautiful

I woke up and looked around the room

saw that everything had changed

The colour of the walls

The colour of my hair

but one thing remained

You were not there….

Beautiful rainbow

Won’t you come back into our lives?

It seems we only see you

after it rains

Beautiful sunshine

Won’t you come back into our lives?

It seems we only see you

in the good moments of life

We need you sunshine

Through the darkest of nights,

We need you to bring back

the light into our lives.

Beautiful flower

won’t you bloom every day?

It seems you only come around

one season a year, and even that slowly fades

Beautiful soul

won’t you stay with us?

Guide us through the dark

to believe and trust.

Beautiful lady

We hope you rest,

Beautiful lady

You will never be replaced

For you are our mother,

Never forgotten….always and forever in all of us…..
